Residents blockaded the road for several hours to draw attention to the dangerous part of the road, saying it has been the site of multiple accidents, including some fatal.
Governor Maitri Inthusut arrived at the protest site on Sunday just before 2pm and spoke with several locals about the problems. He told protesters that plans were in place to give the local Or Bor Jor the funds to build an island in the middle of the curve.
Gov Maitri also said he will ask for an urgent budget from Bangkok to study the traffic problems.
It was the second road blockade in a week for island residents. The first was on Wednesday (April 23) when locals blocked Thepkrassatri Road in Mai Khao for seven hours while they negotiated with police and Governor Maitri over the way arrests for a rape were handled by police.
