Phuket Vagabonds victorious in the rain

Torrential rain over the previous few days couldn't dampen the rugby spirit as both teams got stuck in with the home side relishing the playing conditions and taking an early lead which they would continue to build on throughout the half to lead 29-0 at half time.

The Vagabonds ran riot in the 2nd half to run out 68 points to nil winners against the Prince of Songkla Rugby with five tries from captain Darryn Mathee leading the way and a brace from Rucus Malan. Other try scorers in a dominant display were Michael Whippy, Justin Swart, Charin Daothong (Lek) , Aaron Reading and Adam Victor.

Although the scoreline favoured the home side, all credit to The Prince of Songkla Rugby team for putting up a strong fight and making a good game of it.

The Vagabonds are now well set to retain the trophy in the return leg in Hat Yai later in the year.
