Officers from the Wichit Police were called to the scene of the accident, on the unnamed road near the Naka Shrine in Wichit (see map below), at 2:20pm.

At the scene officers arrived to find a Honda Scoopy motorbike in the middle of the road and the body of Chinnarat Kajutroka, 12, a student at Tessaban 2 Kathu School.

Nearby parked by the side of the road was a white tour bus marked as a vehicle of Jiraphat Transport Co.

The bus driver, Sorrawit Langu, 42, was not at the scene, though he presented himself at Wichit Police Station soon after the accident.

Aphisit Konlee, also 12, told police that he and Chinnarat were riding on a motorbike from Saphan Hin. Chinnarat was operating the motorbike, while Aphisit rode pillion. Both were not wearing a helmets.

Three other youths all on one other motorbike had pulled alongside and the drivers of the two motorbikes started speeding, Aphisit said.

Chinnarat was riding close to central reservation, then something happened, was the best Aphisit could explain to police.

The motorbike fell, spilling Chinnarat and Aphisit onto the road. Chinnarat was thrown into the left lane, into the path of the tour bus, which ran over him, killing him instantly.

Police said they had yet to determine whether to press any charges related to the death as they were still investigating the accident.

Assuming the ignorant parents who allow a 12 year old driving a motorbike have now sadly paid for their ignorance with the life of their son
Again and again seeing children riding motorcycles themselves and no one says what, if the parents ignore traffic rules how their offspring should know better than their parents

There are so many police officers around the school in the morning 7.30-8 am and around 15.30-4.00 pm.
Why does the police not enforce law at that time.

Give the parents 1 month to get the driving license, helmet on, motorbike legal.
In that month the police will inform the students from 10 years an up, how the main traffic laws are.
After 1 month: all with get a fee, start from 300 baht

It is s tragedy that the 12-year-old boy died in this accident.
However, is he allowed to ride a motorcycle in the first place? We can see very often, young kids under the legal age to ride motorcycles are allowed on the streets. How many more such underaged kids have to die before the government officials especially the police enforced the law vigorously?

For the lost of young lives due to traffic accidents are 2 parties responsible.
1- The police. RTP does nothing to prevent/stop them riding.
2- The parents, of course.

Motorbikes, rode by kids, should be confiscated and scrapped.

Hello RTP!!! Your law enforcement, please.

It's about time irresponsible parents were held to account. For a 12 year old to be on a motorbike on the public is obscene but an everyday occurrence.

For example Kamala is awash with kids in school uniform racing around but the police do nothing except extort 'fines' from foreign drivers when crashes occur. The parents are quick with their hands out as well. More responsibility= ...
