A win by Laguna would see them secure their 4th consecutive finals berth while a win by Jabudays would result in them facing their arch rivals Patong.

The Laguna side ultimately prevailed by setting a solid total of 233-6 from their 35 overs while Jabudays fell just short of the target reaching 208-7 in reply.

After winning the toss, Jabudays elected to put Laguna into bat, confident they could chase the target down. Their decision seemed justified early on, dismissing Val Guiraud for a duck in the 1st over.

They then removed Laguna’s opener Darren Shaw shortly thereafter and with 2 wickets down for 25 Laguna needed a steadying influence to get their innings back on track.

This appeared in the form of Faisal Mir (38) and Shoeib Mushtaq (98) who combined for a 54 run partnership until Mir fell in the 14th over with the score on 79.

However, more work needed to be done to post a solid total and it was a match winning partnership of 84 runs between Mushtaq and Sameer Khan (29) who took the score along to 163 before Khan finally fell.

Mushtaq continued unabated with his fellow batsmen Damian Clowes and Sami Ullah (23 not out) to take the run total along to 233-6 after 35 overs. Pick of the bowlers for Jabudays were Pawan Kothari (3 for 38) and Paresh Borkar (2 for 44).

After the lunch break, Jabudays set out to chase down the large Laguna total. They got off to a solid start with openers Vicky Mehra (22) and Anand Chand (35) posting a 53 run partnership before Mehra was run out by Val Guiraud in the 13th over.

Imtiyaz Mushtaq (7), one of the league’s most devasting batsmen, failed to provide a significant contribution to the run chase when he was dismissed shortly thereafter in the 15th over with the score on 60.

Laguna then managed to secure the vital wicket of Chand just 3 overs later and were looking on top. However, Syed Hussain (62) and Iqbal Malik (33) combined for an 88 run partnership to threaten the Laguna total until Hussain fell in the 31st over with the score on 176.

However, with 58 runs still required for victory from just 5 overs, the Laguna total was just too far out of reach and Jabudays eventually posted a respectable score of 208-7 in reply.

Pick of the bowlers for Laguna were Sami Ullah (2 for 39), Faisal Mir (1 for 32) and Roly Cooper (1 for 38).

The result saw Laguna secure their 4th consecutive finals berth. They will meet Patong who has been the in-form team and the only one to defeat Laguna during the season.
