Despite a determined effort, the Village total of 141 all out fell short or the mark with Jabudays chasing it down in just 25 overs to secure a valuable bonus point.
After winning the toss, the Village elected to bat but were probably reconsidering their decision when they lost their openers Martin Foster and Paul Stamp early on.
Craig Murphy (13) and Mark Whetton (14) then steadied the ship to through to the 10 over drinks break. However, Whetton eventually fell in the 13th over with the score on 53.
James Firth (15) and Martin Platts (10) were the only other Village batsmen to reach double figures. However, the innings total was boosted by 58 extras thanks to some wayward bowling by the Jabudays side who accumulated 40 wides and 10 no balls.
The Village side posted a total of 141 runs being bowled out in the 35th overs. Pick of the bowlers for Jabudays were Imtiyaz Mushtaq (3 for 27), Pawan Kothari (2 for 24) and Anand Chand (1 for 22).
After the lunch break, Jabudays got off to a shaky start losing Mushtaq in the very 1st over. Syed Hussain (11) and Vicky Mehra (12) also fell in the opening 10 overs until Anand Chand (18) and Iqbal Malik (12) steadied the innings before Malik fell with the score on 74 in the 13th over.
Surender Kumar (37) once again provided a valuable contribution to the Jabuday’s innings taking the score along to 126 before he was dismissed.
However, by this stage, with only 16 runs being required for victory, the Village were unable to contain the Jabudays side and Ravi Naik (14 not out) saw his side through to victory posting 145 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 25 overs.
Pick of the bowlers for the Village were Craig Murphy (3 for 39), Mark Whetton (2 for 27) and Martin Platts (2 for 21).
The result saw Jabudays move up the ladder with 27 points from 7 matches behind Patong in 1st place with 33 points.
Meanwhile Laguna continue to challenge for a finals berth with 25 points from their 6 matches played so far.
