Phuket Soccer Schools hold training matches

FOOTBALL: Phuket Soccer Schools' (PSS) U8 to U14 sides had training matches at Thanyapura on Saturday (September 7) afternoon under cloudy skies in warm and dry conditions.

Thursday 12 September 2013, 12:43PM

They welcomed teams from the Pak Lok area of Phuket to the Thanyapura facilities.

Playing five aside, the U8 squad gained valuable game experience in their training games against the Pak Lok sides. For some of the players, this was their first taste of competitive action, and scenes of joy were unleashed when they scored a great team goal.

The U10s played some good possession football, but showed a lack of understanding when entering the final third and were punished for some individual mistakes that led to goals.

The U12s showed off many new signings this week, and worked hard on their team organisation and positional responsibilities. PSS were pleased with the initial training games, and will hopefully add some players later this week to the squad.

The U14s went 1-0 up and played some great position football in their 40 minute game, but eventually went down 5-2 to a skillful and very fit Tiger Junior team. A highlight for PSS was Peter K’s Ronaldo-like free kick that dipped over the wall and nestled in the corner.

PSS would like to thank all the players, coaches and parents from PSS and Para and Tiger Juniors for making the afternoon a competitive but sporting afternoon at Thanyapura

Training for all squads will be very important this weekend as they prepare their first two day Regional Tournament at Thanyapura that will attract 32 youth teams from all over Thailand.

PSS Head Coach Martin Hill said, “It was important we got to play strong football teams this weekend at Thanyapura to see exactly where our teams stand. From this we can make slight adjustments and structure our training accordingly.

“We are extremely excited and look forward to welcoming teams and clubs from all over Thailand for our very first two day Regional Tournament on September 21 and 22. This week PSS are busy preparing all the ingredients that will help make a successful tournament.”

PSS are still seeking a few quality players at U12 and U14 age levels, that is players born between 1999 and 2002. Any interested players should contact info@phuketscoccerschools.com
