I'm guessing he wasn't breathalysed? As per previous comments, most people driving at night are doing so under the influence of alcohol/drugs! Well Ms Saitip has her first taste of the lawlessness of Phuket, thanks to the inaction of the traffic police.

Poor Ms Saitip, having a safe journey all the way from Surathani to Phuket and than, 'in sight of the harbour', some pick up truck slams into your rear.

Was it speed of the pick up truck, and not full attention of it's driver for the traffic ahead of him, perhaps using mobile phone or joking with passenger?

Safe driving is serious business. Some people learn it the hard way.
