Phuket Sport: PCG face HeadStart in Sawasdee cricket league

CRICKET: The second round of Phuket Cricket Group’s junior Sawasdee league took place at the Alan Cooke Ground (ACG) on Saturday, March 16 when the PCS-sponsored Youth Academy teams took on HeadStart International School.

In match 1, PCG A (226) played PCG B (200). Kimon and Hue top scored for the PCG A team with 68, while Kian and Bonnie also made a strong contribution with 65.

For the PCG B team, Ryan and Harry top scored with 61 while Alex and George combined for 51.

In match 2, HeadStart A (199) played HeadStart B (160). Tin and Josh top scored for the HeadStart A team with 74, while Sandi and Emma also batted strongly with 66.

For the HeadStart B team Ferry and JH scored 61 with Fazim and Tate also combined for a valuable 61.

In the playoff final, HeadStart A (255) played PCG A (232). PCG A put up a good fight with Harry and Bonnie (67), Kian and Kimon (63) and Marcus and Bonnie (62) all scoring over 60.

However, HeadStart A proved too strong with JH and Josh scoring 75 well supported by Nikey and Sandy with 67.

After the matches, the HeadStart A team were presented with PCG cricket hats for their winning efforts.

The next round of the Sawasdee league will likely see more local schools taking part as British International School will be next on the PCG’s mobile coaching clinics.
