I recently went to give blood for a man who was in dire need and was turned away. I heard other people turned up at the Phuket Regional Blood Center only minutes too late and were also turned away. This was in response to an urgent call for blood donations.

I have many people over the years complain about all the different reasons given for being turned away from making blood dnaotions. Can someone please let us know what all the requirements for making a blood donation are, and where and when blood donatins can be made.

– Chuck, Chalong

I am just now sitting in the recovery area of the phuket regional blood center having juice and biscuits after just giving them the 4th pint in the last 3 years. I try to arrange donation when doing visa renewal or reporting at immigration. Having donated 13 times in the USA, I find no difference in the eligibility requirements in phuket than that in the USA. For example, restrictions on UK cit...

@ Skip. Very true, Thailand is not complying with international rules regarding blood donation.
Many things on the thai requirement list are actually quite funny.
But thai love it to make lists with rules, it is nice cool office work, even if you not have knowledge of international rules, and make your own rules.

When you have a patient in need of blood, for example type O, than you take any...

Wow, to be concerned about a person who needs your blood, otherwise no life saving operation, going to hospital and get turned away on this check list, that is something.

I suggest next time Phuket hospitals ask for emergency blood donors, do attach the mentioned check list.
Safe people the trouble to go for blood offering and turned away.
