Department of Internal Trade (DIT) Director-General Wiboonlak Ruamraksa said the DIT has surveyed markets across Thailand regarding basic items such as pork, chicken, eggs and vegetables.

She said the prices of some items had increased, but remain in relation to market demand.

The central market will be working to prevent price rises caused by product distribution being directed to specific areas where demand is high, thus causing shortages elsewhere, she said.

“The public can be assured that the volume of items in demand for Chinese New Year celebrations will be sufficient this year, and price changes will be more stable next week once the market is restocked,” she added.

The public can report any overpriced sale of groceries or insufficient supply to the DIT’s 1569 Hotline.

DIT's Hotline 1569 will be waiting the calls , answer in thai, or even not pick up the phone, usual practice with thai institutions.

The foreign public will be already back after Chinese New year in home country before DIT take any action. If they take any action!

Just again another thai lip service, but no action prior the Chinese New year.
