Local charity invites Phuket to sing carity for a cause

PHUKET: Phuket locals and visitors are invited to sing their hearts out for a good cause at the latest fundraising event from Phuket Has Been Good To Us, “Karaoke for a Cause”, to be held August 2 at Anantara Vacation Club Phuket Mai Khao.

Thursday 31 July 2014, 06:00PM

A sensational evening is in store as guests let their hair down and belt out their favourite karaoke tunes. If singing isn’t your thing it is worth coming just for the food. Appetizers, live cooking stations, a carvery, main courses, classic Thai cuisine and desserts make a fabulous menu. All topped off with free flow beverages.

Not only is the menu incredible but so are the prizes that are on offer. Up for grabs on the night are five overseas holidays including four nights at Desert Islands Resort & Spa by Anantara in Abu Dhabi and three nights in the Maldives.

Phuket Has Been Good To Us receives no government funding for its work to provide free, quality English lessons to underprivileged Thai children on the island of Phuket. The foundation relies solely on generosity of businesses, kind individuals and events such as this to continue its work.

“We’re so grateful to Anantara Vacation Club for generously hosting this special evening,” said Tina Hall, Foundation Director of Operations. “We can’t wait for this fabulous night of food and drinks and fun entertainment, all for a great cause!”

Proceeds from this event will go to Phuket Has Been Good To Us; a Thai registered charity established in the aftermath of the 2004 Asian tsunami.

Money raised will enable the charity to continue to expand their much needed English education programme that currently serves more than 1,000 underprivileged Thai children in three government schools in Phuket.

Tickets are available for a donation of B2,500. Bookings can be made by contacting Anantara Vacation Club at +66 (0) 7633 7200 ext 2001 or Chantima_th@anantaraclub.com
