Prawat Wahoram crossed the finish line in 3.14.54 minutes to take home the gold medal while Putharet Khongrak and Rawat Tana completed a Thai sweep after finishing second and third respectively.

Songwut Lamsan added silver to the Kingdom’s medal tally after finishing runner-up with a time of 52 seconds in the men’s 400m T13 event.

In wheelchair tennis, Wanitha Inthanin and Sakhorn Khanthasit took bronze in the women’s doubles event after beating Hwang Myung-Hee and Park Ju-Youn of South Korea 6-4, 6-4.

Thai athletes will vie for two badminton gold medals after they reached two finals yesterday.

Sujirat Pookkham defeated Kim Seung-Suk of South Korea 21-10, 21-16 in the women’s singles WH1 semi-finals while Wandee Kamtam defeated compatriot Darunee Henpraiwan 21-19, 21-11 in the last four of the women’s singles WH1 event.

Both Sujirat and Wandee will play in the gold medal matches today (Oct 12) while Darunee has already been guaranteed a bronze after reaching the last four.

However, there was disappointment for world champion Amnouy Wetwithan, who will have to settle for a bronze after losing to China’s Yutong in the women’s singles WH2 semis.

A day after securing the individual epee gold medal, wheelchair fencer Saysunee Jana and her teammates joined forces to give Thailand a bronze from the women’s epee team.

In goalball, Thailand will have to fight for a bronze after losing to Japan 9-0 in the women’s team semi-finalsy.

They will play Iran in the bronze medal match.

At press time last night, Thailand were seventh in the medal standings with 19 gold medals.

China remained the runaway leaders with 137 gold, followed by South Korea (43), Iran (40), Japan (31), Uzbekistan (31) and hosts Indonesia (24).

The Games end tomorrow (Oct 13).
