The news broke when the movie’s production manager, Piya Pestonji, met with the Governor of Krabi, Lt Col M.L. Kitibadee Prawit, at Krabi Provincial Hall yesterday (June 12) to discuss details of the production along with the Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Krabi Office, Apichai Aranyik.

The movie production will see more than B340 million invested in Thailand and create employment throughout the country, the governor said.

“This is a proud moment for Thai people and a chance to be good hosts and to promote the country’s tourist attractions, natural resources, culture and history globally.

“I am pleased to welcome the production crew and cast. This opportunity will benefit locals greatly and I call on every sector to cooperate in being good, polite hosts,” he said.

“We are coordinating with relevant departments to help facilitate the establishment of a temporary office in Krabi for the preparation of the production,” the mayor added.

The Phuket News this morning asked the Phuket PR Department if a similar meeting was scheduled to take place with the Phuket Governor to discuss details of filming in Phuket, to which they replied that no such meeting has been set up yet but any developments will be reported.

What happened to TPN's policy of not approving comments that denigrate others? "Poor man.." is just such an ad hominem retort to a view that Thai authorities' lack of common sense in governing is astounding. Can we buy Phuket and get it out of the hands of capitalistic pigs?

Mr Wiesel, 1: I didn't say I have a problem. 2: You not understand that other people could still have a water pressure problem is saying something about you. Many of us "stand up' with signalling problems, lies, broken promises of Officialdom. Going public in comments or viral with other media sometimes is a wake up call for Officials and getting things in motion and changed.

Wiesel | 19 June 2019 - 11:54:25

Sorry Mr. Kurt but i dont understand your problem because i have my own pump and dont have problems about waterpressure. I think you are not happy if you can not find something negative or bad. Poor man. If it is sooo bad in Phuket and thailand why you are still here?? Or why you dont just stand up and change the things you dont like??

Kurt | 18 June 2019 - 23:58:13

Sorry mr Wiesel. In Thailand is a lot of 'planning-talks' happening . After that it stops, in the hope public forget the planning talks. No follow ups. No need to talk about doings, that of course never happen. Do you know of any planning/doings to make sure Phuket people not suffer water shortage the next dry season? Until now water pressure is still not back to normal all over Phuket.

As if there aren't enough fast and furious drivers already on the roads in Phuket, now to glorify it! I

Wiesel | 17 June 2019 - 16:54:56

A governor plays the trumpet about very temporarily 'backround employment' during a movie shooting. The production brings her own actors, crew and cast.
Fast & Furious promoting thai culture, natural resources, culture and history? Just promotion bla-bla. Hehehe. A movie just about Phuket traffic will show partly local road culture already.

alf | 14 June 2019 - 08:20:30

That's already Fast and Furious everyday on Phuket Roads !!
We won't even be able to notice when they will do the shootings...
Indulging into the wrong culture and delivering the wrong message ? ...
