Among the swimming stars in the Thanyapura pool on Thursday was Dutchman Pieter van den Hoogenband, widely acknowledged as one of the greatest swimmers of all time and a multiple Olympic gold medallist in the 100m and 200m freestyle.
Van den Hoogenband was training on Thursday alongside fellow Dutch Olympic gold medalists Ranomi Kromowidjojo and Femke Heemskerk, and two "rock star" Italian swimmers, 100m freestyle world-champion Filippo Magnini and Federica Pellegrini, who won gold in the womens 200m freestyle at the Beijing Olympics in 2008.
The Italian couple caused a stir when they posed naked for the cover of Vanity Fair in 2012.
The Dutch Elite swim team are training at the Thanyapura SLC over the next month as they embark on the start of a four-year training plan that will carry them to the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.
The Dutch swim team management is so impressed with the facilities at TSLC that they have begun preparations to train there each year from now until the Rio Olympics.
The British and Hungarian national swim teams will also be training at TSLC later this year.
