swerv: why you keep all the time so elaborating about that permanent Kathu road check point?
It is not a traffic check point, it is just a money making station. (reversed ATM)
In other countries you will be not allowed to continue driving without driving license after paying 500 thb fine.
Yes, indeed, a ATM in reverse is for putting money in. Hahahaha. Get it?
That is what all the drivers do t...

swerv, or is it Joe12, some time ago the order was given that all buses must stop at the kathu checkpoint, to be checked, by police(no qualifications required) for safety, including brakes, before proceeding over the hill, this of course never happened, as per normal "all mouth no action" procedures, you know, just like the "safety zones" and the never used, in fact hard to fi...

Kurt: Kathu check point is just that...a check point. It is not there to check the road worthiness of every vehicle which passes through. It is not geared up for that.
Vehicles are checked on their annual MOT check up same as other countries.
Why do you want to know the name of the driver? Is it that important to you?

BTW, an ATM in reverse would be putting money in.

swerv: The colonel was functioning as the spokesman regarding this accident.
A spokesman should know all the in's and out's.
I don't know why a police officer with the rank of a colonel must be spokesman.

Your question: What more information we want? Don't you read?
Why was this unsafe bus on the road?
And what actions are taken against the owner of the bus?

What you wro...

Kurt: It is doubtful a colonel would be dealing direct with this incident so no it is not strange that he did not know the name of the driver, who cares anyway? What is "hiding Thainess"?

The driver was charged with driving an unsafe vehicle...so what more information do you want/need?

How did the bus get through the Kathu checkpoint? Probably drove through. This checkpoint is only...

They do not care, They do not care They do not care Authorities do not care, people do not care- as long as the money keeps rolling in all this BS lip service is just about perpetuating the lie that they do care.

At least a yearly inspection of the buses allowed on the roads.
A nice sticker on the window showing date and the I.D. number of inspector. The sticker should have a chip in it so police simply scan it for inspector ID and date. Also, it can be flagged as it passes a detector on the roadside. The chip will help prevent fraudulent stickers.
Thailand should be safe.

How about fining the owners of the bus for allowing an unsafe vehicle to be driven? Unless he was the owner?

Kurt | 27 August 2016 - 11:37:21

A police Colonel was hiding further police actions and unable to recall the name of the bus driver?
Unable?
Is this a bad joke? Or just hiding thainess?

Driver just fined and free to go.
How about the bus technicalities?
The driver was charged with driving a unsafe vehicle!
No more information about that?
Information about the follow up of that by police declared unsafe vehicle?

How d...

The Police don't know the Drivers Name??? They fined him & let him go??? How much was the Fine? It was only by chance that nobody was killed! If the Bus was defected in anyway the Coach Company are responsible. I guess the brakes faile? Usual explanation.

Ed Sanders | 26 August 2016 - 18:45:14

And the stupidity continbues. This bus company should have been fined a minimum of 100,000 baht for putting dangerous piece of crap buses on the streets, and the driver should be done. But typical for this place...nothing happens and nothing will change. Let the carnage roll on!!!
