The boy, so far named only as “D Max”, was attacked at about 10am, and his parents rushed him to Takua Thung Hospital.

Due to the severity of his wounds, doctors there had him transferred to the better-quipped Vachira Phuket Hospital in Phuket Town.

Dr Weerasak Lawtongkum, Acting Chief of Vachira Hospital and Deputy Director of the Medical Department, said medical staff from the pediatrics, general surgery and plastic surgery divisions had been assigned to provide treatment to D Max.

D Max suffered wounds to his head, neck, torso, legs and arms.

Some of the wounds are deep, Dr Weerasak explained.

D Max underwent his first surgery in the reconstruction process last night, Dr Weerasak said.

“The patient is still in the ICU under close observation. We also have a psychiatrist attending to his emotional condition right now,” Dr Weerasak added.

Phuket Vice Governor Prakob Wongmaneerung and other officials visited D Max at the hospital last night to provide encouragement.

“He has many wounds which will take time to heal. We wish for D Max to get well soon,” Vice Governor Prakob said.

Khok Kloi Police confirmed to The Phuket News this morning that D Max went with his brother and a friend to collect shells from the water’s edge at Baan Tha Noon at about 9:30am when four dogs ran out and attacked them.

Two of the boys managed to run away from the attacking pack, but D Max could not.

Unable to get the dogs to leave D Max alone, the boys ran to get help from nearby villagers, police explained.

"racists/white supremacists" more name calling, a select few can name call.. the rest get censored. This commentor is simply trolling, without a clue to what a white/racist supremacist really is, should be a politician with such grandstanding rubbish.

Astonishing that an article like this brings together some of the worst commenting racists/white supremacists on here .Shameful !Seems like this website is trying to catch up with ThaiVisa.

Gotta love all these child psychologist, who got their degrees off the back of a cereal packet. What is surprising though is the hatred espoused towards their fellow man.

Rorri_2 | 01 February 2019 - 14:16:59

".Those kids learned early how to survive or to stand on their own feet," rubbish, generally speaking Thai males cannot stand on their own two feet, every Thai woman knows this, including the male's mother, it's one way of the culture ensuring the women find a husband... just ask a Thai male how to cook an egg.

Very true, k Dek. ."They don't whinge for not getting what they want".. It's to them simple, just have a gun when you are 16-17 years old, take what you want, kill who you want if they 'look wrong'. Plus the drugs of course. But for that we now have a Vice Governor who declared it now 'endemic' ( while phuket is already years endemic sinking under drugs)

DeKaaskopp | 31 January 2019 - 22:24:49

Looks like the other Thai bashing generalizer missed his anger management class.Apart from this he could learn a lot from those who did not get a constant parental guidance. Those kids learned early how to survive or to stand on their own feet without being pampered or looked after all the time.Contrary to you or that other clown they don't whinge all the time for not getting what they want.

"Thai kids grow up very careless" a truer observation I haven't seen, not generalizing and not crap, majority of Thai kids (boys especially) are let loose from an early age with no parental guidance on right or wrong then turning into lawless adults with spoilt brat mentality, the only crap on this forum eminates from you!

DeKaaskopp | 29 January 2019 - 19:56:50

"Thai kids grow up very careless...."The usual generalizing crap from the serial poster.

Galong | 29 January 2019 - 16:11:24

Mr. Wiesel it is my yard, but they are welcomed to play anytime they wish. My dogs don't mind either. However, if the kids who come into my yard run screaming, my dogs will chase. They have had dozens of opportunities to bite, but they were only in it for the chase. That's what animals do. I'm sure you know more about this than I do as someone who has only read one comment.

Kurt | 29 January 2019 - 12:13:46

Thai kids grow up very careless. Dad working in BKK, mother working in Chiang Mai, kids live with grandparents, just grow up, can do what they want. See them 2-3 boys,12-13 years old, riding 1motorbike with 80 kmh speed. Laugh & fun riding. RTP? Huh, RTP? Where? Not their job.

Wiesel | 29 January 2019 - 10:14:10

To Mr. Galong: If kids can not play and run because of your dogs than there is something total wrong and your dogs are dangerous!!

Galong | 28 January 2019 - 17:12:00

Parents need to tell their kids NOT to run away from dogs! That's simply the worst option. I get kids in my yard all the time and I'm constantly yelling at the (in Thai) to NOT RUN when they see my dogs. Some of these are my neighbor's kids. They've been told repeatedly not to run. My dogs could care less about them, unless they run. Instinct takes over.
