Boost to 2013 budget

The Cabinet has approved a slightly higher budget for the next fiscal year.

Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Kittiratt Na-Ranong revealed that the weekly Cabinet meeting had approved the 2013 fiscal budget of B2.4 trillion; a 0.8 per cent raise on the 2012 fiscal budget of B20 billion.

In addition, deputy government spokesperson Pakdihan Himathongkam said that the 2013 fiscal spending plan includes B449.3 billion for investment, B1.9 trillion for regular expenses and B49.14 billion for the payment of loan principals.

Mr Pakdihan said that projects planned for the next fiscal year include reconciliation projects, drug crackdown campaigns, anti-corruption policies, water resources management efforts and the restoration of peace in Thailand’s deep South.
