All eyes on Caddy Shack, Natalie Bar as PPL heads to final week

POOL: First placed Caddy Shack and second placed Natalie Bar are set to battle it out for the title of Patong Pool League (PPL) champions in the final week of action set to take place on Thursday (Oct 18.

Following week 21 action played last Thursday (Oct 11), Caddy Shack lead Natalie Bar by six points and on paper are favourites to take this season’s title.

However, it is the PPL and that really does mean that anything can happen on the day, and Natalie Bar are sure to be looking to improve of their runner’s up place from last season.

In last week’s action, league leaders Caddy Shack played away to Simon & Oil’s and Caddy Shack could not afford to drop too many points.

Mark and Ben from Caddy Shack won their singles and doubles games as did Brett from Simon & Oil’s. Caddy Shack lost the beerleg in three sets but won the game 5-7.

Meanwhile, Natalie Bar played away to Kiki Sports Bar and after only managing to secure a draw in their game with Simon & Oil’s the day before were looking to up their game a move closer to table toppers Caddy Shack.

It was the birthday Andrew B. D. player from Natalie Bar but besides a cake Kiki did not have any other presents to give away.

William, Jack and Mac playing for Kiki won their singles and doubles games as did Natalie and Andrew from Natalie Bar. Kiki won the beerleg in two sets and the finale score was 7-4 in favor of Kiki thus reducing Natalie’s chances of winning the PPL league this season.

Elsewhere, Wombat played away to Happy End and Wombat were well prepared with Wayne, Stu, Azza and Frank all winning their singles and doubles games.

Happy End’s captain Jerry won his singles and double games s well and his team managed to win the beerleg. However, it was not enough and Wombat walked away with a 4- 8 win.

Martin Swiss played away at Red Light and Tony from Red Light won his singles and doubles games while Martin and Kid did the same for their team. It was a close game and the beerleg was a three-setter won by Martin Swiss, who also won the match 7-5.

Finally, Genius played at home against Ting Tong and Nick and Peter playing for Ting Tong won their singles and doubles games while Jenny and Tommy playing for Genius did the same. It all came down to the beerleg which was won in three sets by Ting Tong but the finale result was a 6-6 draw.

The final week of the Patong Pool League will be played on Thursday with big finale match of the season between Caddy Shack and Natalie Bar being played of Caddy Shack’s home turf in Kathu.

The End of the Season Party will be held at Genius 2 Garden and Restaurant on October 25 starting at 7pm.

Any bars interested in joining next season, which will commence mid-November and run until the end of April 2019, are asked to contact organisers via the Patong Friendly Pool League Facebook page.

* As Wombat Bar has not been able to complete their PPL games and not fulfil their PPL commitments, they have now been removed from the league table and all their participated games have been nullified according to PPL regulations.
